The quickest way to start is to call, text or email with the name of the city you're considering and a few numbers about your current business. You'll talk to a senior strategist, not a call centre. We keep office hours of Mon–Fri 9–6 Pacific. We usually reply within one business day.
What happens next
Tell us the basics
Business, city, website and the problem to solve.
We review it
We look at your site and local search results first.
We talk it through
A senior strategist calls you back with specifics.
How to reach us
Three ways, all going to the same person.
- Call (604) 632-4959 if you'd rather talk it through. If we miss you, leave a short message with your name, company and the city you have in mind.
- Text (604) 632-4959 if you want to send the basics and get a reply when it suits you. Texting works well for owners who are on job sites all day. A short text is enough.
- Email Ali@Sedighi.ca if you want to send more detail, such as a spreadsheet of your numbers or notes on why you're considering a particular city.
We're based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and work with HVAC companies across Canada. Mon–Fri 9–6 Pacific is 12–9 Eastern, so owners in Ontario and Quebec can reach us into the evening.
What to include in your first message
The more of these you can share, the more useful the first conversation will be. None of them is required.
- Your company and home market. Where you operate today and roughly how long you've been in business.
- The city or cities you're considering. And what's drawing you there: a competitor's success, a team member moving, supplier advice, or your own research.
- Your average replacement ticket. A rough figure is fine.
- Your close rate on booked estimates. Even an estimate helps.
- How you'd be present. A staffed branch, techs travelling from your current location, or not decided yet.
- Your timeline. When you'd like the new city producing calls.
- Your current marketing setup. Website, Google Business Profile, ads, and who manages them.
Here's a template you can copy into a text or email:
Hi Ali, I run [Business name] in [Current city]. We're thinking about opening in [Target city] around [Month/Year]. Our average replacement ticket is about [$ amount] and we close roughly [%] of booked estimates. We'd likely [open a branch / serve it from our current location / not sure yet]. Can we talk?
What happens next
Three steps, and you decide at each one whether to continue.
- First conversation. We talk through the city, your numbers and your reasons. If it's clearly not a fit, we'll say so on the call.
- Free trial and first look. If it makes sense, the 7-day free trial looks at your current marketing, website speed and search visibility, and sizes up the competitors you'd face in the target city. You won't be asked for a credit card.
- Sizing and plan. If you want to go further, the market sizing service builds the full estimate and launch plan, usually in two to three weeks.
There's no lock-in at any stage. Plans and fees are set out on the pricing page.
Before you get in touch
A little preparation makes the first call more productive. If you have time, read the market sizing guide and try the first two steps for your target city: count the households you could serve, and apply the provincial fuel mix from the relevant region page. You'll come to the call with a rough sense of scale, and we can spend the time on the assumptions that matter.
If you're still choosing between cities, the city selection scorecard is a good place to start.
A note on what we do
HVAC.City is a marketing and business consulting service for HVAC and heating companies, part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group and led by Ali Sedighi, MBA. We don't install or repair equipment, and we don't give licensing or legal advice. If you're a homeowner looking for heating or cooling service, please contact a licensed local HVAC company instead.
We only send messages to people who contact us first, and we keep the details you share confidential.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to have chosen a city before I contact you?
No. Many owners get in touch while they're still weighing two or three options. Tell us which cities you're considering and why, and we can start with a comparison.
Is the first conversation free?
Yes. The first call is a conversation, not a sales pitch. If it makes sense to go further, you can move on to the 7-day free trial, which benchmarks competitors in your target city as part of a wider audit and asks for no credit card.
Will you share our numbers with anyone?
No. Your ticket sizes, margins and expansion plans stay between us. We only use them to build your sizing and launch plan.
Can we talk by video call?
Yes. We can set up a video call, or meet in person, to go through the sizing sheet or the launch plan together.
